"Kids Helping Kids Fight Cancer"
The B+ Foundation gets help in many creative ways. Not only do these events raise money to help us further our mission, but they dramatically increase awareness of the B+ Movement. Check out a few of the more recent ways that kids (and adults) are helping kids fight cancer.
Kids
- Valentina gave out B+ wristbands for her 12th birthday and asked for donations to B+ instead of gifts!
- For Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, St. Elizabeth Elementary School, DE, sold B+ T-shirts and Kind Joe Coffee raising over $4,000 for B+!
- Samantha and her friends in Arkansas are selling things, giving backrubs, and doing chores to raise money for B+.
- Tatnall Middle School raised money for B+ throughout the school year.
- Immaculate Heart of Mary School held a tag day with proceeds going to B+. An opportunity to wear B+ Gear to school!
- David M. and his friends did chores in the neighborhood and held a bake sale to spread the B+ spirit and raise funds for B+.
- North Star Elementary 5th Graders are in the B+ spirit year-round, and again this year they held a Family Movie Night to benefit B+. The best part was seeing almost everyone wearing B+ shirts!
- The Bevelheimer girls of Woodbury, NJ, made their Halloween Party into a Penny Carnival to benefit B+. Thanks to Tricia, Elese and Georgia and their teammates and friends.
- 6-year-old David P. organized a Family Cards & Game Night at his school in Hockessin, DE. This event, in memory of B+ Hero Jack Langseder, benefitted The B+ Foundation. Only 6 years old and he's got the B+ spirit!
- The 4H group Flock of Friends distributed 400 B+ Day flyers and sold B+ Gear raising money and awareness around Wilmington, DE.
- Tommy H. asked his friends to give donations to The B+ Foundation instead of gifts for his 12th birthday to honor his friend Andrew.
- Darley Road Elementary students wrote and illustrated books to raise funds for B+!
- Tristan P. requested donations be made to B+ for his birthday.
- The Baldwin School in PA is going to have a new club -- The B+ Club -- thanks to Sarah P. The club will support The B+ Foundation while raising awareness of childhood cancers. What a great idea, Sarah!
- One of our own B+ Heroes, Savannah Pauley, asked her guests to make donations to The B+ Foundation, in lieu of gifts for her 10th birthday! She knows all too well the toll that cancer takes.
- Thanks to Maggie C. and Meghan C. for donating their holiday charitable donation to The B+ Foundation.
- As part of his Mitzvah project, Sam S. sent us 6 gigantic boxes full of books, CDs and DVDs for the A.I. DuPont Hospital as well as a generous donation to The B+ Foundation from his Mitzvah money.
- Delaware Youth Soccer Association and Hockessin Soccer Club held the Kohl's Cup soccer tournament and donated some of the proceeds to The B+ Foundation.
- Central DE Soccer Association asked players to collect donations for The B+ Foundation and also sold B+ Gear.
- The Wilmington Tigers Basketball Club wears the B+ logo on the sleeve of their warm-up shirts and has raised money and awareness by wearing them up and down the east coast.
- NBSL Swim Teams from North Wilmington, DE, held their championships at Ashbourne Hills Pool and bought B+ Gear to raise $2,000 for families in need.
- Antonio D., and his mom Nicole, delivered 126 postcards to A.I. DuPont Hospital. The postcards, designed by kids during Chase's Bring Your Children to Work Day, were delivered in honor of Andrew.
- Antonio D. and his 2nd Grade class delivered over 3,000 soda can tabs to Ronald McDonald House "for Andrew!"
- Maggie A., our B+ Hero Molly's sister, presented us with a heavy jar full of money for B+!
- Students in the St. Mary Magdalen (Andrew's school) National Junior Honor Society organized a 3v3 Basketball Tournament for K-12. We were honored to attend the ceremony that presented a check to the Ronald McDonald House establishing a room in honor of Andrew and fellow students Alex Kerr and Emmie O'Toole.
- Maura, Allie and Angie were "Andrew's Angels" at the SMM 3v3 Bball tournament and wore their decorated B+ Gear!
- Ryan M. and the 5th Graders at North Star Elementary in Hockessin, DE, have taken the B+ spirit to heart by doing good deeds and raising funds for The B+ Foundation. They invited Joe to kick off their efforts and sent him a thank you card signed by each of them.
- Madison, a 5th Grader from North Star Elementary, and her family held a garage sale with the proceeds benefitting The B+ Foundation.
- Brendan W. celebrated his 12th birthday recently and asked his friends to bring donations to The B+ Foundation instead of gifts. Thanks for being so unselfish, Brendan.
- Ryan M. and Mary and Emily A. set up separate lemonade stands this summer and raised money and awareness for The B+ Foundation.
