Many don't realize that after the first round of chemotherapy, Andrew was leukemia-free. It was sepsis and a fungal infection that severly complicated treatment. Joe was invited to write an article for SepsisAlliance.org to tell Andrew's story. Article

The Senate of the State of Delaware issued a Senate Tribute to Andrew on the occasion of his graduation from Salesianum in June. The tribute begins: "The Senate celebrates the life of this outstanding young Delawarean, whose exemplary life story and whose heroic struggle in the last days serves as an inspiration for all who knew him and for many more who never had the privilege of knowing him personally...."

CBS3 (Philadelphia) ran a nice story about Sammy Bradly’s bone marrow drive on June 13th in Newtown Square, PA, for fellow B+ Hero, Noxah Palomo. Joe got a chance to remind viewers that a simple cheek swab could save the life of someone anywhere in the world.
UDance, the largest student-run philanthropy at the University of Delaware, raised over $100,000 to benefit The B+ Foundation and Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Article

That wasn't enough to win the $1Million, but we were the top childhood cancer group. Andrew and The B+ Foundation were featured in the Nemours Partnership for Children's Health publication. The article briefly describes Andrew and his illness, the mission of the foundation, and our recent grant of $250,000 to their affiliated facility, the Nemours Center for Childhood Cancer Research.
